September 23, the 64th International Astronautical Congress opened in Beijing. During the exhibition activities of the congress, CASIC showed collectively five technical sectors and 35 technological products, highlighting its technical achievements and strengths in the aerospace field. In which, the space rendezvous and docking microwave instrumentation radar used for guiding the successful rendezvous and docking of the Shenzhou spacecraft with the Tiangong-1, the high-precision accelerometers combination responsible for helping the Shenzhou spacecraft balance, the Beidou vehicle networking project used to solve urban traffic congestion and other became the star exhibits, attracting the visitors at home and abroad to stop and stare.

As a main force of China's aerospace industry, CASIC focuses on building a space-ground integrated security assurance system and its numerous technical products play an important role in construction of the manned spaceflight, lunar exploration project and other major national projects.

During the exhibition activities of the congress, CASIC showed collectively the following five technical sectors. CASIC focused on its emergency delivery technology to show its offshore typhoon sounding rocket system. The fully-polarized light-small satellite-borne SAR, infrared detectors for resource satellites and other technical products are representive of the technical sector of earth observation. The technical sector of measurement and control and detection technology consisted of the ever-victorious Radar-1 for recovery in defense of the Shenzhou spacecraft through the blackout zone, the wind profiler radar which has been applied in many regions in the country and can provide real-time detection data and other products. The applications of space technology highlighted the Beidou Vehicle Networking project which can provide full-service for the government, enterprises and drivers based on the country’s Beidou satellite positioning technology. In the exploration of space technology, the rendezvous and docking microwave radar playing a prominent role in the country’s manned space flight project, combination of high-precision accelerometers and other technological products were unveiled.

The technical products which have made some great contributions in China's manned space flight project are the most eye-catching in the exhibition area.

During the manned flight missions from the Shenzhou-8 to the Shenzhou-10, the space rendezvous and docking microwave instrumentation radar acted as the  ‘matchmaker’ to fix the Shenzhou spacecraft up with the Tiangong-1, providing  both broad and sophisticated security location services for the rendezvous and docking. During the rendezvous and docking, it was excellent in completing its missions through two-way target acquisition in advance and with indicators far more than expected.

The instrumentation control radar Recovery-1, known as the ‘meritorious radar’, was the only self-search and instrumentation radar when the spacecraft passed through the blackout zone. It accompanied the whole courses where the Shenzhou spacecraft had flown for ten times. It had tracked steadily the Shenzhou spacecraft after the Shenzhou spacecraft entering into the blackout zone, paving a level road for the Shenzhou spacecraft returning home.

The high-precision accelerometer device, also a ‘veteran’ part of the Shenzhou spacecraft series, is responsible for helping the Shenzhou ‘balance’. This device is just like the elfin closest to the Shenzhou heart, sensing a slight acceleration which human body cannot feel but is vital to the two aircrafts approaching slowly in the universe. The device had been excellent in every flight missions and won unanimous praise from the experts in the industry.

In addition, the Beidou vehicle networking project attracted attention from visitors suffering traffic congestion. Depending on the aerospace high-tech advantages, based on a series of independent R&D products, such as intelligent vehicle terminals, the purpose of the project is to achieve the real-time monitoring and supervision of regional operating vehicles and the large-scale applications of the Beidou satellite technology at the provincial level and even throughout the country.

The responsible person of CASIC said in an interview, facing the future, CASIC will continue to strengthen technological innovation, innovation of business model and management innovation, highlighting the major works in aerospace defense, expanding both information technology and equipment manufacturing, and strive to develop into an international first-class aerospace defense company in 2020. Also, CASIC would like to sincerely cooperate with the international space community in order to make new and greater contributions in exploration of the universe, peaceful use of outer space and application of space technology to benefit human society.
